Centre Overview
Erin's Isle GAA club is primarily a GAA playing club based in Finglas. It has teams at Juvenile and Adult levels of Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie. Following our Camogie team’s Senior A Championship win in 2003 meant we have won Senior A Championships in each of our three main sports.
I say "main" sports, because as well as Hurling, Football and Camogie, our humble club also has a Pitt & Putt section, a chess club and a badminton club to name a few.
In the past the club has also competed in and won Scór championships. Scór, for those who haven't heard of it, is an Irish Dancing and Cultural competition.
Key Aims & Objectives of Service
Erin’s Isle is in line with the national GAA aims and objectives which state:
“The primary role of the Gaelic Athletic Association is the development and promotion of Gaelic games as a principal component of Irish identity and culture. The Association aims to maintain and enhance its position as Ireland’s pre-eminent, community-based, amateur sporting organisation.
In promoting its games, the Association will continue to build on, and develop, an ethos of local identity and a sense of place. This will be achieved by encouraging participation from all sectors of the community, at home and abroad, whilst promoting sportsmanship, discipline and personal development among its members.
The GAA is a non-party political, anti-sectarian and anti-racist organisation. It will continue to value, and to prosper from, the enormous voluntary efforts of its members, the amateur status of its players and its mentors, and the dedication of its employees. The Association, being membership-based, will be responsive to changes in society and to the wishes of its members, who ultimately ‘own’ the organisation”.
Services Provided
Erin’s Isle teams start from age 4-6 with our Grasshoppers section on Saturday Mornings at 10am in the club hall. Children then progress to aged teams u7 up to u16 in sports Camogie/Ladies Gaelic Football for the girls or Hurling/Football for the boys.
We currently have Camogie, Hurling and Football sections in adult grades.
As previously stated, we have an 18 hole pitch & putt course, chess teams, badminton and handball alley to name a few of the other facilities.
We have a social members bar which opens Monday-Friday from 8pm, Saturday 2.30pm -12.30am and Sunday 12.30am-11pm.
