The Probation Service provides pre-sentence reports to the courts, supervision of offenders in the community, management of community service orders, and liaison and referral to local services and treatment agencies as required.
We are available to provide the labour and supervision for projects which are of benefit to the community in the Finglas/Ballymun areas. Contact the service through the general office telephone number.
The Probation Service provides anti-offending behaviour programmes, individual group and intensive probation. Under the Children's Act, 2001 we are a key agency in the provision of family conferencing, and mentoring (family support) for young people who have come before the courts.
Key Aims & Objectives of Service
The Probation Service aims to promote safety in the community, to prevent victimisation and promote victim awareness by working with offenders to reduce offending in the community and to help offenders and their families to lead more productive lives. We aim to achieve this by motivating, challenging and supporting offenders. The Probation Service provides assistance to offenders released from prison and places of detention to promote their reintegration back into their communities.
